Founding motivation

Restoring city park ballgames

Across Lincoln, public park diamonds sit quiet on weekend mornings while private athletic clubs charge hundreds each month for youth roster spots. That financial divide sidelines neighborhood kids who simply want to toss a ball and run bases.

A small group of Lincoln parents, former school coaches, and civic neighbors organized Play Ball Lincoln to rebuild standard recreation ball where rosters form by neighborhood and registration fees stay within reach of working families.

City field permits

Securing seasonal park permits with Lincoln Parks and Recreation to schedule low-stakes weekend scrimmages and family clinic days.

Collecting non-binding participation surveys from Lincoln families and local coaches to map geographic demand across elementary and middle school clusters.

Convening volunteer field coordinators, umpires, and parent advisers to draft league bylaws, safety standards, and equipment inventories.

Establishing an independent Nebraska non-profit incorporation with transparent open-book accounting and zero executive payroll.

Play Ball Lincoln is currently a grassroots project. It is not chartered by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Little League International or Little League Baseball. This exploratory structure gives Lincoln families the opportunity to share their interest in exploring a community-led youth baseball league.
